1959 – A Vision for Education
With the primary objective of promoting the teaching of Urdu and Arabic, the Muslim community of Rarawai and neighbouring villages embarked on a shared vision to establish a Muslim school. Following extensive consultations and discussions within the community, the founding members courageously accepted the challenge of turning this vision into reality.
1960 – Land Donation
The dream of establishing a Muslim school took a significant step forward when land was generously donated by Marhoom Din Mohammed, Marhoom Bandho Miya, and Late Mr. Narain. Their generosity laid the foundation for an institution that would serve generations of students.
1961 – School Approval and Construction
In November 1961, the Ministry of Education granted approval for the construction of the school. The founders were entrusted with the formidable task of completing the project in time for the commencement of the new school year in January, failing which the approval could be forfeited. Despite the limited timeframe, they remained steadfast in their vision and commitment.
Funds were raised through generous donations from members of the community, while an agreement was also reached with the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) to facilitate contributions through deductions from cane proceeds. The construction contract was awarded to Mr. Jaggu Mistry, whose work helped transform the community’s long-held dream into a reality.
1962 – Opening of the School
The school officially opened its doors in 1962 under the leadership of Mr. Mohammed Ali, who served as the first Head Teacher. He was supported by Mr. Jamaal Khan and Mr. Krishna Prasad, forming the school’s pioneering teaching staff and marking the beginning of a proud educational legacy.
