FML Makoi Branch operates Makoi Jame Masjid, Makoi Muslim Primary School including Kindergarten and the Makoi Muslim Zanana Markaz

The Fiji Muslim League (FML) Makoi Branch was initially formed as a sub-committee under the FML Nasinu Branch and operated from 1987 to 1995. Due to the growing Muslim population in Makoi, Tuirara, Narere, and Muanikoso, the branch was officially established in 1996.

Today, the branch serves approximately 260 Muslim households and continues to provide religious, educational, cultural, and social services to the community.

FML Makoi Branch proudly maintains three places of worship:

• Makoi Masjid
• Narere Masjid
• Ladies Markaz

The branch also operates Makoi Muslim Primary School, which was established in 1987 to address the educational needs of the growing community. A well-established kindergarten further supports early childhood education within the locality.

Community welfare remains a key focus of the branch. FML Makoi Branch currently provides assistance to 28 underprivileged Muslim individuals and families within the locality, reflecting its commitment to social responsibility and community support.

The branch continues to uphold the values of compassion, service, and unity that have guided its work for many years.

Our special recognition goes to those who have passed away, whose contributions were invaluable and whose legacies continue to inspire us. We pay tribute to:

  • Mahroom Haji Safar Ali
  • Mahroom Haji Abdul Janif (Abdullah)
  • Mahroom Haji Samad Khan
  • Mahrooma Sr. Shabnam Begum

and many others whose dedication helped shape the branch’s growth and success. May Allah SWT grant them the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous.

We pay special tribute to Br. Haji Basir Ahmed, whose vision, leadership, and commitment were instrumental in the establishment of the officially recognised FML Makoi Branch in 1996.

Over the years, the development of our Masajid, educational institutions, and community facilities has been gradual but steady, made possible through the unwavering support, generosity, and dedication of our community members.
